Our Legacy Wall

We have created a legacy wall in our lower level play room with the heading, "These Hands Have Touched Our Home and Touched Our Hearts."  We invite anyone that has ever attended Tipton Adaptive Daycare or volunteered here to come leave a hand print on our wall.  This wall serves to give the children a sense of ownership and belonging and gives us a visual reminder of how many children have come into our lives.  We hope that years from now the children will come back to visit us and find thier hand prints still here.

NICHCY is very pleased to offer you a wealth of information on disabilities! NICHCY stands for the National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities. We serve the nation as a central source of information on:

  • No Child Left Behind (as it relates to children with disabilities), and
  • research-based information on effective educational practices.

Introducing... SibShop!

The Arc of East Central Iowa is excited to announce Sibshop! Sibshops are opportunities for brothers and sisters of children with disabilities to obtain peer support and education within a recreational context. That means FUN- and a lot of it! Sibshops are not therapy, although their effect may be therapeutic for some children. Sibshops are for 1st - 5th grade brothers and sisters of children who have special needs. Sibshops acknowledge the special and important roles brothers and sisters of people with disabilities have in the present and in the future. Fall Sibshops are being organized and more information will follow soon!

FREE Child Care if you qualify for DHS Child Care Assistance

Here is the information on child care assistance from the Iowa DHS website. I have included the 2008-2009 Income guidelines from the DHS Employee Manual to help you determine if you qualify. Links to the sources of this information are included below. Families with incomes near the income limits will have to pay a small daily copay as determined by DHS. DHS does not pay for additional fees, such as enrollment fees, late fees and after hours care fees. Income guidelines are adjusted annually.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What's Available?

Child Care Assistance (CCA) is available to the children of income-eligible parents who are absent for a portion of the day due to employment or participation in academic or vocational training or PROMISE JOBS activities. Assistance may also be available for a limited period of time to the children of a parent looking for employment or when the parent who normally cares for the child is unable to do so due to hospitalization, or outpatient treatment for physical or mental illness.

Child care services are provided to people participating in activities approved under the PROMISE JOBS program and people who receive Family Investment Program (FIP) assistance without regard to Child Care Assistance eligibility requirements if there is a need for child care services. PROMISE JOBS staff administer Child Care Assistance for child care needed to participate in PROMISE JOBS activities.

Child care services for a child with protective needs are provided without regard to income. To receive protective child care services, the family must meet specific requirements, and child care must be identified in the child's case permanency plan as a necessary service.

Who Can Get Help?

You may get help from the Child Care Assistance program if you:

* Have a child who needs care who is under the age of 13 (or under the age of 19 if the child has special needs).
* Are a member of a Family Investment Program (FIP) participant household.

If you're not a Family Investment Program participant, you may qualify for the CCA program if you:

* Have a child who needs care who is under the age of 13 (or under the age of 19 if the child has special needs) and have income under the program's limits and work an average of 28 hours per week; or
* Attend an approvable training or education program full-time; or
* Are looking for work; or
* Are unable to provide care because of an approved medical reason.

How do I apply?

To get most of our services, you must fill out an application form.

If you have access to a printer, you can print an application from this website (see links below). Complete the application by hand then return it to the DHS office serving the county where you live.

You can also get an application form from any county Department of Human Services (DHS) office. Click on County DHS Office Locations to find the location of the county DHS office nearest you.

Parenting Investing Program (PIP)

There are many things we do as parents to invest in our families’ futures. One of those ways might be to invest in a savings program at work with our employers matching the money we contribute to the plan. It is important to also invest in your child’s present needs to ensure he or she has a strong future. The best way we can provide for our children’s present and future needs is to learn good parenting skills. What we do as parents will have a greater impact on our children’s lives than anyone else involved with our children. We can learn how to be better parents through books, magazines, classes, and the guidance of family and friends.

Tipton Adaptive Daycare, LLC would like to match the time you invest in parenting classes. For every hour of classes you attend, you will be given one unit of credit for free child care for one child. Each two hours of classes attended will equal a full-day credit for one child. For families using third-party payers, the time can be used for a little time to yourself that your payer might not reimburse. Credits can also be used for after hours care by appointment. To receive your credits, you will need a certificate of attendance or a statement signed by the class instructor stating the title of the class and the numbers of hours attended. This offer is for children currently enrolled at Tipton Adaptive Daycare.

Are You a Parent and a Student?

Tipton Adaptive Daycare, LLC would like to reward your hard work and efforts to build a secure future for your children. If you currently have a child enrolled in our daycare, bring in your most recent college or high school report card, and you will receive one unit of credit for free child care for one child for each ‘A’ you received in the previous reporting period. Two A’s will equal a full day of free child care for one child. For families using third-party payers, the time can be used for a little time to yourself that your payer might not reimburse. Credits can also be used for after hours care by appointment.
